21st Century Schools

The link below is well worth the time it takes to read it!

For example, the article suggests allowing and even encouraging students to bring their technology to school with them. Cell phones in the classroom? Currently many schools ban their use and even possession of them in school. What do you think?

You might also want to pay attention to the section about assessments. Interesting thoughts here.

Enjoy and respond with your thoughts on any of the issues presented here.

  1. I find myself in agreement with the bulk of what is stated in the article, though I have yet to see any evidence that organic foods are any more beneficial than their non-organic counterparts. Allowing the use of tablets and smart phones and having a wifi system sounds great on the face of it, but it poses serious challenges for a teacher who must focus his or her students’ attention on the lesson at hand when it is so easy for a student to discreetly access their favorite website or trade text messages with another student.
